I just don't want to be paying the dealer $125 per hour to try and fix the problem. Unfortunately, none of the independent shps know these transmissions well and even the International dealer said they rarely work on them. I’ve already replaced the clutch 2 times, wiring harness, all the sensors, XY shifter and another component that I can’t remember the name that goes on the bottom of the transmission.We've got a 2010 International 8600 with an Eaton Ultrashift 10 speed. I really enjoy the auto transmission but that’s one issue I haven’t been able to fix. It goes into neutral on its own after 6th and will go into the correct gear by accelerating it, the problem is that I hear a really loud scratching/cracking noise when I do that almost like it’s forcing the gear in. Driving the truck with gentle throttle and/or brake applications (same as you would in a manual transmission vehicle) generates gentle shifts between gears. For some reason the gears don’t seem to go in smoothly all the time especially when down shifting on the lower gears. My biggest issue I’ve had with the truck since I bought has been the transmission though. But when you notice a high-pitched whine or a low rumble, the RPM tends to rise at an increasingly fast. Thankfully, it should be easy to detect if the gearbox is sliding, even more so in automatic trucks. The truck has been really good to me and thankfully has never left my stranded on the side of the road.
